By Alfred Bia Koroma
It had been a cherished dream by all and sundry, including Cabinet Ministers themselves for a reasonable and timely cabinet reshuffle as the one the people have just seen of late, this recent reshuffle is it in the best interest of the people of Sierra Leone?
But it appears as if the reshuffle had not gone down well with some affected persons or groups in society by how the songs are been sung in certain quarters.
Of cause, no rational thinking person would stand in the open to say, former Ministers did anything that was expected of them, especially when the entire nation has been crying for development of the country in the last five (5) year.
The unfortunate part of the reshuffle was and still that, the number of government Ministers now doubled the former Cabinet which is a very big load in the economy, taking into consideration the huge salaries, rent allowance, fuel and even top-up all to be paid by the consolidated revenue fund.
The people would have thought that, everybody by now should have been a satisfied person, when the Cabinet of 2018 came in to power with fresh legs to service the people, in football fresh legs are very important.
This time the people have been clamoring for a reduction of the Cabinet, giving the State of the Country’s economy to service a very large Cabinet of this kind the people have today with the associated economic leakages presently in the country.
It will surprise the people of this country to know that, ever since in the history of this country the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has produced the largest Cabinet ever for the people of Sierra Leone.
The people of this country feel disappointed at the President for giving the people a blotted Cabinet at the detriment of the economy of the country.
It is no secret that, the people are very much disgruntled since 2018 up to date, especially those in Southern and Eastern provinces who feel this is their time to enjoy.
The reshuffle is however, a very good pointer to all Cabinet and Deputy Ministers that, their survival in the last reshuffle determine by their output in their various Ministries.
They are therefore expected to tighten up their belts, if the belts are slackened to work very hard to live up to the expectations of the President or they too will see the exit door.
Some people are saying that, the new Cabinet is appointed on sentiments and jobs for the boys/girls. The President is however, advised to have a closer look at the peace Commission he had set in the interest of peace in the country, the people have suffered a lot in the last five(5) year.
It is no doubt that, the police are now trying to show peace signs because they have seen the writing on the walls, especially during the last elections, where everybody saw it all.
Are shuffle is always necessary but to put people in their right full places is the most important thing a President should do not only to satisfy those in his campaign team, it is a fact that, all Ministers are servants of the people including you Mr. President.
