Bra Parrot has been following all political activities before, during and even after the elections of 24th June, 2023 to be able to get correct, credible and accurate information to tell the people of Sierra Leone.

On the same angle, the brave bird has also followed activities of other institutions that are responsible for the regulation and or, the proper running of other institutions.

Bra Parrot had noticed long before this time that, government after government is always against protest of whatever form, peaceful or not, government will never allow it.

 

The reason(s) sometime the security unit by extension government always advanced is that, the peaceful protest as it is called, might not take a different turn to the disadvantage of the general public.

But the situation became worst when the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) came to power in 2018 trying to muscle all other political parties in the country.

 

Bra Parrot is of the view that, the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone is very clear in the areas of, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Movement, Freedom of Assemble and Freedom of Association, as long as it is not detrimental to the State.

The brave bird has always say, the bird is not making a case for anybody to ride on, only that, those in authority should take time in doing things.

Be it as it may, the institutions responsible for security in the country should not be bias in doing things, they must be seen to be neutral in doing things.

The Public Order Act is for all and not for few. Before this time the opposition parties always write letters for clearance for a peaceful protest they are always rejected to do a peaceful or even to assemble.

The brave bird saw few days ago, hundreds and hundreds of people on the streets of Freetown, the day the results were announced declaring President Maada Bio winner.

The question the brave bird is asking now is that, all those on the streets that day did they write to the police for clearance? Did they get permission from the police before going out to dance and jubilate? Was anybody arrested for violating the Public Order Act? All is no, no, no.

Bra Parrot will not say in totality that, the police are bias or sometimes partial, what the brave bird will say is that, the action of the police speaks for itself.

The brave bird is just thinking aloud, by safely saying that, what goes around comes around.
