Twenty-four-years-old Mohamed Kamara, a businessman, has made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
He was standing for two counts charges of embezzlement, which is contrary to Section 17 (b) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and was held for Larceny as contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Thursday 22nd February 2024 at New London, Leicester in the Mountain Rural District in the Western Area in Freetown, he fraudulently embezzled the sum of Fifty-five thousand one hundred and Twenty Leones(55,120); one Dell Laptop computer; one Samsung mobile phone; one Tecno manual phone and other assorted items equivalent to the sum of sixty three thousand seven hundred and fifteen Leones(63,715) and the items were received by him.
He was said to be running a bureau by the name of Henmar Enterprise at New London Leicester village. And on count two the accused on the same date and place did steal the sum of twenty one thousand four hundred and ninety three Leones(21,493) as property of owner of Henmar Enterprise.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Dialla Wellington sought for a short adjournment date for her to get proper conference with her witness.
The accused was not represented by any legal counsel.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown matter adjourned to the 30th May 2024.
