Bra Parrot has been listening to speeches made by some African Leaders of late. But to the dismay of the brave bird, some of our African Leaders do not live to our expectation. And many a times, they do not talk like Leaders when in public places.
As a matter of fact, to be a Leader is one, and to be able to articulate well is another while to behave well as a Leader in public places is the most important thing in all in Leadership.
The brave bird wants to narrow it down to local Clubs, Associations and Organizations. Immediately a person is elected, appointed or selected as a Chairman or President, as the case maybe, of the above groups; the person’s language and way of doing things should automatically change when in public places or while speaking to the public.
Bra Parrot is of the view that, as a Leader, you are a public figure and you must be very careful with the type of words to use. The leader needs to be diplomatic and must be economical with words in making official statements in public places.
However, the brave bird is still in dilemma since the usual seating place was brought down by a heavy storm on May 24.
Up to date, the brave bird is still not confortable. At the same time, it is mourning for the loved ones killed by storm during that day when the same storm brought down the cotton tree.
The point the brave bird wants to hammer home is that people in authority should know how to behave and talk in public places.
It is a fact that, whatever statement(s) a Leader makes in public is a policy statement and people will hold on to it at every given time.
Not too long ago, Bra Parrot saw on social media when one African Leader was addressing a cross-section of his supporters. He was addressing them immediately he was declared winner at controversial election in which even a blind person saw the controversy that happened in that small West African Country.
Bra Parrot was very much amazed to have heard a Leader saying a particular party in that small West African country had joined a ‘bunch of foolish people’ for a system to be changed.
The Leader did not stop at that, he also referred to Western Countries this way with disdain, “the so-called Western Countries.’’ That West African Leader went further to say that the Whites people are jumping by saying that they brought democracy to that small West African country and brought them many other things.
In the small West African Country, Bra Parrot also saw another video on social media where another big man was referring to some International Observers as ‘academic dwarfs.’ The same big man was very bold to have said the party in power will never handover power to any other party. He even cited Mexico saying that the PR system has been in that country for 76 years without reversing it to another system.
Bra Parrot was at that election and saw it all from start to finish. The elections in that West African Country was full of controversies to the extent that even the blind saw all ‘the fishy things’ that took place at that election.
Bra Parrot has viewed all the statements made by those big guys as ‘very unfortunate’ to the general public of that small nation and to the World at large. The brave bird will not name the West African Country for fear that the bird will be stoned to death.
As the brave bird always says no condition is permanent, and that, what goes around; comes around.
