As Leone Stars head coach, John Keister’s contract with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) formally ended, speculation has risen suggesting that the Manchester-born coach will not be offered a new contract but will be replaced by former Inter Milan and Leone Stars Captain, Mohamed Kallon.
Meanwhile, SLFA is eyeing football maestro, ex- Skipper of Leone stars to make an official announcement in the firstweek ogf September and reliable sources have revealed to Africa24 sports that negotiations have been done behind the scene in a bid for the superstar to accept the job.
Reacting to concerns about the specific procedures for the appointment of a coach, SLFA Head of Media and Marketing, Ibrahim Kamara pointed out that there is no specific procedure laid down for the recruitment of a coach.
He added that as long as it pleases the SLFA President and his Executive Committee or recommendation from the technical team, a coach can be appointed.
If Mohamed Kallon receives the new occupation, selecting the right players to prosecute games for the senior national team will be one of his biggest challenges as a coach for Leone Stars.
There will be lots of expectations by lovers of soccer in Sierra Leone about the legend, Kallon to deliver as coach.
He is loved more and had long been hoped by fans to be given the opportunity to serve preferably as SLFA president like his football peer Samuel Eto’o in Cameroon.
