Sierra Leoneans are yet to get the correct information about the rumour that there is going to be another increment in prices of petroleum products. If this rumour is anything to go by, then this could be the fourth time within a very short period that Sierra Leoneans have been exposed to such an unfortunate, ugly and embarrassing situation at a very difficult time like this in the history of this small and impoverished nation.
The stark reality is fuel is an unavoidable commodity that serves as a driven force to regulate all paraphernalia of any society in modern world. And it is sacrosanct that any change in its price system will affect all facets of life.
Nevertheless, in any underdeveloped country like ours where living standards is not only challenging but extremely difficult, any change in price system of fuel will negatively impact the lives of people and will serve as more trouble on them.
The nauseating situation is that our government has totally negated the idea of subsidizing fuel price system which invariably means that the struggle continues in any alteration in price system from any angle without a corresponding rise in the earning capacity of citizens especially the public sector workers.
In fact, there is no doubt that the common people always bear the brunt more so when the increment will surely tell on the price system of commodities especially the staple food (rice) and transportation. So Sierra Leoneans are lost in hope since government is not ready to cushion the effect of this price system.
The question now at the lips of every Sierra Leonean is where the country is heading as prices are unstable like weather?
