Principal Magistrate Marke N’gegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 has sent to remand 17years old Mohamed Haroun Conteh, a former pupil of Providence International High School for allegedly stabbing to death his former school teacher, 62yrs old Gillis Edward Ola Johnson.
17years old Mohamed Haroun Conteh was investigated and charged to court on one count charge of murder contrary to law.
It was alleged on the charge sheet that on Saturday 11th March, 2023 at No.54 Victoria Street murdered Gillis Edward Ola Johnson.
Taking the oath and led in his examination in chief by State Counsel Umu Sumare, the Police Witness DPS 9546 Hamid Conteh told the court that he is attached to the Scientific Support Unit as the scene of crime officer at the Central Police Station.
He said as a scene of crime officer he is responsible to identify forensic and take photos of scene of crime, adding that on the 11th March, 2023 he was on duty at Central Police Station when Assistant Superintendent of Police, Crime Minor, Marah Lahai informed him to visit a crime scene at No. 54 Victoria Street, Freetown.
He said upon arrival, he met Assistant Superintendent of Police Lahai Marah and other police officers at the scene. He added that he observed that the place where the crime occurred was a dwelling house consisting of two rooms and a parlor.
“My Lord I saw a male figure lying on the floor with a cut on his throat”, he told the Bench.
The Scene of Crime officer explained to the court that two blue ink and two red ink pens were shoved in the deceased’s throat, adding that he then took photos of the crime scene with his digital camera and told that the remains were later conveyed to the Connaught Teaching Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
The police witness told the court that the photos were later developed and printed to pictures which he produced and tendered as exhibits and marked as exhibits B One to Six.
Standing in loco for ET Koroma Esq, AG Kamanda Esq sought the Bench for a date for cross examination.
Magistrate Marke N’gegba has adjourned the matter to 30th May, 2023.
