In Sierra Leone today, a lot has been said about politicians, that they lack integrity and are the most corrupt more than any other set of people. They are often accused of mismanagement of state resources, intimidation, and discrimination among many other vices.

Nonetheless, the wise bird has different views to that, that not all politicians lack integrity or being corrupt.

To substantiate that, the most travelled animal was recently in the northern part of this country Port Loko to be precise on a very important assignment when he bumped into a meeting organized by the main opposition party women in this country.

In that meeting one of the strongest APC loyalists and backbones called Diana Finda Konomanyi made her position very clear that, she is not interested in their flag-bearer position in spite of many other senior party members have already thrown their hats into the ring.

During their time in power, she held many senior positions in their administration. She is a seasoned politician. Is she not?

Many people were expecting that she will run for the highest position in their party but her refusal, to the bird, is a clear manifestation of protecting her integrity, in the sense that she is content with whatever position she holds now.

The Parrot discovered that the self-esteemed woman was purposely in that district to address their party women in the township to remain resilient, united and work in the interest of the party.

She was blunt to admit that their party is presently sleeping and that she was one of the people that were responsible for the failure of the APC party in 2023 general elections. To Bra Parrot her admittance is integrity, for which I would say bravo Iron Lady. I know you all now can agree with the wise bird that not all politicians lack integrity or corrupt.

Whist many senior colleagues are clamouring for the highest position in the party Diana being a satisfied politician, is out there rallying round especially the women folks to put aside their grievances and rally round the men for peace to reign in the party, fearing that it will be very difficult for the party to see the light at the end of tunnel come 2028.

The Iron lady’s singular decision not to take part in the race for standard bearer position, and her admission of her being one of the people responsible for their party’s failure has only given credence to Bra Parrot’s statement that not all politicians lack integrity.

Again to prove the bird right, the country’s Parliamentarians few days ago challenged that politicians are not the real thieves in this kingdom. The parliamentarians referenced the Auditor General’s report where year in year out those are in control of MDAs mismanaged public resources without mercy and have even vowed to hold them accountable once they are found culpable.

Once again, the bird went out to get the views of the people on this very important national issue and most of the people he met supported his argument that in fact, there are many other people who are not politicians but are more corrupt and lack integrity.

For instance, some principals in this republic were sometime last year suspended for what the government viewed as corruption in their schools because they were requesting certain amount of money from parents before they can admit their children. Is that not corruption? Is that not lack of integrity? Are they politicians?

In this case, the bird wants to rest his case because he has proved it beyond all reasonable doubts.
