The wise bird has been following the activities of almost all-government ministries to get firsthand information on issues of national interest.
After travelling for the past weeks from the provinces, the uncompromising, most intelligent, and patriotic bird is back on his hot-seat in a full-swing, ready to address some of the thorny issues that have cropped up when the wise bird was away.
The fearless and no-nonsense bird, as usual, loves to read magazines, novels, newspapers, and many a time loves to listen to radio programs or watch Television (TV) and sometimes will go on social media to get more info.
On social media, the wise bird was fortunate to come across a public notice from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation dated 24th January 2024.
According to the content of the public notice, the Ministry of Transport and Aviation is restricting all kekehs, okadas, heavy-duty vehicles and public transport from plying Abacha Street in order to give space to the WAKA FINE buses.
The public notice further states that, Abacha Street is a NO PARKING or NO ACCESS for PUSH CARTS (Omorlankay).
Furthermore, the above named Street will be NO LOADING and OFF-LOADING area as a way to further give space to the WAKA FINE buses and that the LOADING and OFF-LOADING activity will only be permissible during the hours of 10pm-5am daily.
And not even a week after the public notice, the wise bird started seeing vehicles LOADING and OFF-LOADING and even PARKING at Abacha Street which is in violation of the public notice.
The following vehicles with registration numbers: ADA-431,ARG-381,ALS-732,AFB-694 and ADF-123 are seen publicly violating the public notice with impunity earlier issued by the Ministry.
Simply put, shop owners at Abacha Street, have little or no respect for the Ministry and by extension the government.
This is a total weakness on the side of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation if no action is taken on the issue; it is a very big slap on the face of the Ministry.
As usual the wise bird went out to get the views of the public on the issue.
All those Bra Parrot spoke to in respect of the issue, described the Ministry as a toothless bull-dog that barks but does not bite.
According to what the wise bird has gathered is that, all shop-owners at Abacha Street including Lebanese and Indian nationals are saying that, the Ministry is in their pockets and that, they have spoken to all senior workers at the Ministry on the issue of LOADING, OFF-LOADING and PARKING at Abacha Street.
The wise bird will continue to make a follow-up on the issue to see whether indeed or not the Ministry is in the pockets of the Lebanese and the Indian nationals.
And this is the time for the people to know whether the Ministry worth its salt.
