The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) will conduct examination for teachers between January 31st to February 4th 2024 to enable them secure the License to operate as a teacher in Sierra Leone. All teachers that were recruited during the 2022/23 academic year must register to take the examination.
The registration process is expected to end by January 15th 2023 to pave the way for the examination on the stipulated dates.
According to the Director of Registration and License of the Commission, the teachers that will pass the examination will automatically get the License.
TSC insists that any teacher who does not get the License from the government through the Commission will not be allowed to teach in any government or government assisted schools nationwide.
All teachers recruited between the 2022/23 academic year are encouraged to apply for the examination because it is a must.
The Commission says three thousand (3,000) teachers nationwide are targeted for this pilot phase, adding that they don’t have to pay a single cent.
Teachers are encouraged to visit the TSC website “www.tsc.gov.sl” to fill the registration form, noting that teachers who are facing challenges to fill the form are advice to visit the TSC Offices at all District Headquarter towns for assistance.
Meanwhile, the President of Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU), has called on teachers nationwide to register for the examination, adding that it is a novelty in Sierra Leone. He expressed concern that some teachers are not too au fait with ICT and implored on them to visit the TSC District Offices to fill their registration process.
