Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has made significant strides in boosting energy capacity with the arrival of a 43.65 Megawatt generator for its Phase II Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) power plant. This milestone marks the company’s continued dedication to meeting the country’s growing electricity demand, following the successful completion of its Phase I HFO plant, which generates 49 MW of power.
With the Phase II HFO plant set to be completed by the end of April 2025, LRMG is poised to further enhance Sierra Leone’s energy infrastructure. The plant will not only increase the nation’s power generation capabilities but will also provide a reliable energy source for the community, reducing the strain on the public electricity grid.
In addition to the HFO plant, LRMG is also undertaking a groundbreaking project to construct a 50 MW solar power plant. This initiative signals the company’s ambition to diversify its energy sources and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly energy future for Sierra Leone.
The new heavy oil power station engines, which will be utilized in the Phase II plant, represent a major upgrade in the company’s operational capacity. John, an engineer at LRMG, shared insights on the technology behind the new power station engines: “These high-standard heavy oil power station engines will ensure our HFO station operates effectively, producing sufficient electricity for our processing plant.”
LRMG’s efforts to build these new power plants and diversify into solar energy underline the company’s commitment to enhancing the availability of energy while promoting environmental sustainability. By expanding its energy generation infrastructure, LRMG aims to alleviate the burden on the national electricity grid, reducing the need for private generator usage in the community.
The construction of these plants and the integration of solar energy reflect LRMG’s broader vision to contribute to Sierra Leone’s development by addressing both current and future energy needs. As the company continues to invest in advanced energy solutions, it reaffirms its dedication to improving energy access, stability, and sustainability for the people of Sierra Leone.
