Thirty-six-years-old Patrick Ansumana, a driver, nineteen-years-old Samuel Ansumana, a student and forty-five years- old Foday Fornah, a stone miner, had made their first appearances before Magistrate Santigie Bangura which is attached at Pademba Road court no.2 in Freetown.
They are standing to answer three count charges of which is a conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law. They are charged for house breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
And for receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 3rd January 2025 at Ya-Marie Drive, Hill station on the mountain rural district in western area Freetown,the accused conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime.
On count two, it states further stated that on the same date and place the accused persons with intent to steal broke and entered the dwelling house of Bintu Sankoh and stole therein one hundred and seventy thousand Leones(170,000) seven hundred United States dollars and other assorted items equivalents to the total value of two hundred and thirty eight thousand Six hundred and ten Leones(238,610) property of Bintu Sankoh.
Count three further says that on the same date and place the accused person did receive one hundred and seventy thousand Leones, including the sum of seven hundred united States dollars and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of two hundred and thirty eight thousand Six hundred and ten Leones(238,610) property of Bintu Sankoh knowing fully that they had been stolen.
When the matter was mentioned the third accused person was absent in court.
The prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh applied for bench warrant against the absent accused person.
The accused persons were represented by J.T Mansaray Esq.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail for both accused persons and he sent them to the male correctional facility in Freetown while the matter was adjourned to 15th April 2025.
