After a proper survey by the wise bird, it is now abundantly clear that, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning is squarely responsible for all lands related problems in the country.

The most respected animal was at Youyi Building, the building that houses about 75-80% of government Ministries. The bird goes there to get facts about the lands situation in the country particularly in the Western Area, Freetown.

When the bird was at Youi Building, it overheard some people saying that all lands related issues in Freetown in particular, are caused by the very Ministry of Lands itself.

On a particular land case, the bird overheard some aggrieved people saying that their lands’ documents are gotten far-back in the 90s while others say they secured their own documents around 2021, and so, in this case, who are the proper occupants of the specific lands claimed by owners whose documents have a trace of different dates way back?

The wise bird was quick to understand the whole problem..that it is with the Lands Ministry, according to a claim by respondents.

A lady had requested to include her name in the article, but the bird being a professional media practitioner refused to do so for her safety.

The lady (name withheld) claimed that the Ministry of Lands is responsible for all lands related issues in the country, particularly in the Western Area.

She went on to say that, officials in the Ministry can sell to a person the same land to two or more people seeking their interest but all in the name of corruption, while finding a way to get rich overnight.

The bird has noticed that every single day in the Western Area one will hear about a fight which can later result to a death by an individual over a land dispute.

Many a time, those who have money will hire the services of military personnel to beat or sometimes to attempt to kill anybody trying to claim a particular piece of land they are hired to defend.

The bird as usual went out to sound the views of serious minded people about issues relating to state lands.

Almost all those the bird came in contact with said, State lands are lands which belong to the state, but today they are all free lands for workers at the Ministry of Lands, according to a strong claim.

The people are all in support of the allegations made by the wise bird that the Ministry of Lands is squarely responsible for all lands related problems in the country particularly in the Western Area in Freetown.

Others have alleged that, officials in the Ministry continue to sell pieces of lands without due respect to the country’s Lands Act.

About 85-90% of workers at the Ministry of Lands have lands, according to allegations.

They went further to say that, from a laborer up to a Minister, these people all have lands not a piece of land, and that is the reason many a time senior officials will tell owners of land to come back the other day with their documents and again and again until a particular case dies a natural death.

The bird will follow all matters relating to lands from now onwards.
