Yusif Turay who is a business man, Ibrahim Thullah, Ishmael Nat Thomas a business man, Hassan Gibrill Kargbo, a business man, Alhaji Santigie Sesay also a business man and Sheriff Osman Sankoh had made his first appearances before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court no.2 in Freetown.
On three count charges the suspect was held for conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and for two counts ranging from Larceny by a servant which is contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on a date unknown between Monday 24th to 25th March 2025 at various Access Bank Sierra Leone Limited Branches, in the western area of Freetown, having intent to defraud the accused conspired together with other persons unknown and defrauded Orange mobile finance limited the total sum of nineteen million, eight hundred and seventy eight thousand, three hundred and sixty Leones(19,878,360).
On count two, it is said that on the same date and place the accused persons being an agent operating orange mobile money for orange mobile finance limited, he uses orange money wallet to bank transaction platform, and stole therein a total sum of nineteen million eight hundred and seventy eight thousand three hundred and sixty Leones(19,878,360) from bank account number 0010160000326 operated by orange money wallet collection which has is the property of orange mobile finance limited.
Count there further says that on the same date at Rotifunk Lungi the Kaffu bullom Chiefdom in the PortLoko District the North-West Region in Freetown being agents operating orange mobile money for orange mobile finance limited, the suspect used orange money wallet to bank transaction platform, and therein stole the total sum of nineteen million eight hundred and seventy eight thousand three hundred and sixty Leones(19,878,360) from the bank account number 0010160000326 operated by orange money wallet collection of which is property of orange mobile finance limited.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh sought for a short adjournment date to get proper conference with his witness.
Counsel representing the accused persons Abdul Rahman Kargbo Esq applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons, saying that they are Sierra Leonean residents within the jurisdiction.
And had reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into their con on their behalf they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will nor will they jump bail he made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura had refused bail and consider the grievous nature of the offences charged and refused bail ; while the matter was adjourned to 14th April 2025.
