MPs belonging to the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Committee in parliament have criticised the management of Roy’s hotel business for not complying with tax regulations.
Roy entity has a hotel, restaurant and a beach bar along the Lumley-Aberdeen beach road, west of Freetown.
The committee accused Roy for not honouring tax compliance regulations and for failing to present other documents to government regulatory authorities in the country.
In his submissions, MP from Falaba district, Hon. Mohamed Billoh Shaw, who is also a member of the Committee on Tourism and Cultural Affairs discovered that since 2004 to 2009 the General Manager of Roy’s Hotel, Rajaa Eljawhari, has not been fulfilling or meeting his Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to the Aberdeen Community.
The chairperson of the Tourism Committee, Hon. Mohamed Rahman Coker Sheriff, ordered the manager of Roy’s hotel to furnish the committee’s clerk with certificates for the establishment of the entity’s several chains of tourism hospitality and entertainment facilities built between 2004 and 2009.
Roy’s boss is expected to present the said documents in the well on Tuesday 27, February 2024, before the end of day.
The Committee on Tourism and Cultural Affairs, had unanimously ordered the General Manager of Roy Hotel, Rajaa Eljawhari, to produce the remaining documents including certificate of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), registration license, NASSIT tax contributions slips and other relevant documents to the committee clerk and such documents should be made available within a week period.
