A Development partner and humanitarian icon Dr. Roland Turay last Friday 11th October, 2024 provided free eye sight and hernia surgeries to several residents of Bombali District.
The residents of Bombali, primarily farmers and traders had long suffered from various health issues due to lack of access to adequate medical care. Many had resigned themselves to a life of visual impairment and painful hernias with little hope of relief.
Majority of the beneficiaries were brought from Maboroba Village and surrounding communities in the Bombali District to the Branda Medical Centre in Makeni City for eye and hernia operations.
Among the patients were men, women and youth who have suffered for long from these ailments in their respective homes without any hope of getting a fast and free treatment.
This press paid a visit to Branda Medical Centre Limited. Most of the recovered patients there showered praises on Dr. Roland for his marvelous assistance to bring their lives to normality.
Pa Ishmael Sesay, an hernia patient, aged 67, thanked Dr. Roland for his Godly gestures.
He said that before the surgery he was completely despaired given that he has nobody to undertake the expenses of such surgery.
“But today here I am well and strong,” Pa Ishmael said urging his people to offer special prayers for the learned humanitarian.
Also commending the Bombali humanitarian icon, Mammy Isatu Bangura who informed this press that, she had earlier received hernia surgery through the assistance of the family. “But this time around when I develop another one, my family refused to help me on the grounds that I may have bewitched myself. So I was waiting for my time to die because it hurts me severely,” she said noting that Dr. Roland is God’s sent and thanked him for a job of which she never had imagined.
Another patient Kemoh S. Kamara, a youth of 25- years-old, described Dr. Roland as a Prophet who identifies people in difficult situations and had rescued them at once.
“Upon our return to Maboroba Village tomorrow, we will gather everybody at the village square to read the Holy Qur’an for his protection, guidance and Allah’s richest blessings [ In sha’Allah] , ” Kemoh emphasized in a very happy mood.
