In a significant show of their generosity, commitment to all walks of life and to keep up to their Cooperate Social Responsibility, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG), the leading mining company in Sierra Leone, has again signed another MOU worth $150,000 (an equivalent of NLe 3,388,170) in support to the Sierra Leone Premier League Board for the 2024-2025 football playing season.
This colorful signing event took place on Friday 22 November, 2024 at the Raddison Blu Hotel at Aberdeen in Freetown. The deal signals a huge development for football in the country.
The signing ceremony will usher in another collaboration between the cooperate establishment and sports industry as a renew call for more investments in the country.
Making his own contribution, the Chief Technical Officer of Leone Rock Metal Group, Mr. Salim Sillah underscores their commitment to contributing to Sierra Leone’s socio-economic and cultural growth, adding that as an institution they believe that sport plays a pivotal role in bringing people together and inspiring the youthful population.
He reiterated that, by supporting the Premier League, “our aim is to empower local talents and to bring fans together through the love of football.”
He went on that, LRMG cooperate social responsibility and engagements across the country, will create positive impacts on many people in the country.
Mr. Sillah, stated that the Company was extremely pleased with the previous 2023-2024 premier league season, highlighting that they want a closure report from the Board at the end of the competition for transparency, evaluation and compliance for the sponsorship agreement signed.
CTO Sillah registered gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of Leone Rock Metal Group for showing commitment to supporting and promoting sports growth in Sierra Leone.
Making the disclosure for the sponsorship for 2024-2025 season, he told the audience that the sponsorship fee for the previous season (2023-2024) was $89,000 and now they have resolved to increase the amount for the 2024-2025 season to $150,000 (NLe 3,388,170).
He assures that, the sponsorship deal will be increased from time to time with other countries within the sub-region.
Magistrate Mark Ngegba, the Premier League Board Chairman expressed thanks for the unflinching support, adding that the sponsorship will elevate the league for it to be more competitive and so it could usher in more opportunities for the youth.
The Premier League Board Chairman stated that the signing of the MOU is a testament on hope on how much could be achieved through their shared vision by constantly advocating to give football a dignify humanitarian atmosphere built on unwavering foundation of trust and transparency.
He emphasized that, these are core values of which he wishes to execute as Chairman. He discloses that the 2024-2025 Premier league season will commence within the coming days.
Magistrate Ngegba, said LRMG has continued to demonstrate its commitment to supporting football in the interest of the people of Sierra Leone and have assured them of intending to raise the bar for 2024-2025 league season.
In his contribution, the Sierra Leone Football Association President, Thomas Daddy Brima said that the signing of the sponsorship deal is an historic event, noting that Leone Rock Metal Group is slowly moving to become a pacesetter in promoting football in Sierra Leone.
He said SLFA is proud of the company’s annual sponsorship to the nation’s football league.
In her keynote address, Minister of Sport, Augusta Teima also expressed thanks and appreciation to Leone Rock Metal Group for signing another sponsorship MOU deal with the sports ministry meant to promote football in the country.
Madam Teima, told the audience that she felt elated for Leone Rock Metal Group sponsorship to supporting sports discipline which has attracted the youthful population in Sierra Leone.
She stated that President Bio is committed to promoting sport and it is looking forward to its growth comparatively like other countries within the sub-region.
She pointed out that football creates a lot of job opportunities for many and promotes the President’s human capital development in Sierra Leone.
