The Minister of Trade and Industry Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy has stated that his Ministry will soon establish the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC).

Addressing newsmen past Thursday at the Ministry of Information and Communication Press Conference room at Youyi building, Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy said the Consumer Protection Commission will be a new department under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

He noted that the CPC will be charged with the responsibility to be looking at wide range of consumer protection issues ranging from prices of goods and services and quality of goods and services, adding that it is no longer going to be a business of the Sierra Leone Standard Bureau alone.

Dr. Edward H. Sandy further stated that the Consumer Protection Commission will be the representative of consumers with a number of interest groups represented in the commission as this he said will make consumers have value for money.
