Self Help and Development Everywhere Sierra Leone (SHADE SL), a prominent local non-governmental organization with support from its German friends including Astrid Friedrichs, Uta Lange, Sandra Lange, Christian Lange, and Mia Sietas supported the much-anticipated annual party for needy children.
The event held on Saturday 21st December, 2024 in Kambia town brought together one hundred children from underprivileged backgrounds for a day filled with joy, laughter, dancing and meaningful connections.
The annual event meant to create a memorable experience for the children. The party featured a variety of activities, including games and live entertainment.
“We believe every child deserves moments of happiness and a chance to dream big,” said the Executive Director of SHADE SL. Madam Christiana Y. Khanu. “This event is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together for a common course.”
Also, the chief organizer of the event, Alhaji Kolleh Yillah said, he is much grateful to Astrid and her family as they are wonderful people with a heart of giving. He encouraged others to emulate Astrid and her family as December is a month that children should have joy and happiness.
The Director expressed gratitude to all those who in one way or the other supported the event.
She said that the party is an annual event to continue the organization’s mission of supporting the less fortunate, fostering hope, and empowerment of communities.
The highlight of the event was a heartwarming moment when children were invited to share their aspirations. Many spoke of their dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, and community leaders, inspiring all present.
As the day ended, the children were offered Christmas gifts as they left with smiles on their faces and warmth in their hearts, a reminder of the impact kindness and generosity can have on young lives.
