Twenty-five-years-old Joseph Sao Amara appeared at the Criminal session at the sexual offences Court No.2 on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown.
He stood on one count charge of committing sexual penetration which is contrary to section 19 of the Sexual offences Act 2012 Act No.12 of 2012 as repealed and replaced by Section 4 (a) (ii) of the Sexual offences Ammendment Act 2019, Act No.8 of 2019.
According to the particulars of offence on the 26th December 2023 in Freetown, he was accused to have engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child below 18 years.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.
He was not legally represented in court.
Meanwhile, justice Stevens refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown. While the matter is adjourned until 30th April 2025.
