The say dancing is a physical exercise to loosen up the body from stress and other forms of stress and music is the food for the soul, but the new habit of President Julius Maada Bio to dance in front of a mammoth crowd has captured public scrutiny.
President Bio has been seen dancing these days on many occasions before and after he will address his supporters, sympathizers and well-wishers. But what president Bio has been dancing over has been a topical discussion among political scientists and pundits.
President Bio has just completed his first term of office with a paralyzed economy and high cost standard of living in a country where the ordinary man cannot make up to USD$1 per day. The country’s economy is in a deep total mess and then president Bio is dancing to satisfy himself.
The dancing steps of the First Gentleman has been classified as a good omen that the New Direction administrators now have a bright and better future ahead even if they do not win the June 24th elections.
Political pundits believed that dancing is the new ideology of the PAOPA regime and the general public will never understand why President Maada Bio and his SLPP cronies keep on dancing. It is said that only those within the system could tell why Bio and his allies are dancing relentlessly.
Opposition politicians from different political parties have said to this medium that president Bio has succeeded in cajoling the people together with the Bank Governor who did his bit in helping the president to succeed in his mission to get affluence.
One popular politician of the strong main opposition party said to this medium that President Maada Bio should dance because the people gave him job after sitting for some 25 good years doing anything. He said that Maada Bio has not been into the corporate world and is not business minded that is more the reason he could not succeeded in his presidency. He said president Bio is internationally unrecognized due to his poor human rights records, adding that even though being a peace expert Bio failed to restore and run a peaceful governance free from intimidation, fear and bullying.
Another school of thought has said that president Bio, Alex Prince Harding and Alpha Khan are dancing because they are hopeful of winning the forthcoming elections by all means necessary as measures have been set for the result to favour Maada Bio to continue his presidency, despite the excruciating hardship among the general populace. This school of thought is of the firm conviction that president Bio with his heap of promises did not salvage the problems of the people and is now bent on dancing on them as mockery.
A think tank consortium has described president Bio’s dancing as a mere provocation to the suffering masses. Because how could president Bio dance when he has not been able to succeed in making sure that no citizen goes to bed hungry. This consortium of think tankers highlighted that president Bio has derailed the development trajectory as it has been projected by the last regime. When the SLPP came to power there was constant electricity, the mining sector was booming with hundreds and thousands of the youthful population gaining lucrative employments.
But there was a complete taciturn, just after the 2018 elections when the economy starts to capsize with everything turning upside down. World leaders who have succeeded in developing their countries have never been seen dancing in front of a mammoth crowd not to say the least of president Bio who has failed with his promises and even with his flagship campaign project, the Free education.
Dancing is a physical exercise to relief one from stress and worries, but the dancing of president Bio and his cohort in this sense is a mockery to the citizenry who continues to wallow in abject poverty while they keep on dancing on their sufferings.
