It is with great pride and a profound sense of purpose that I nominate Miss Lemuella Tarawallie for the esteemed position of Deputy National Secretary General in the upcoming SLAJ Elections 2025.
This nomination transcends a mere candidacy; it serves as a clarion call for transformative leadership grounded in justice, equity, and the principles of feminism.
Lemuella Tarawallie is a beacon of resistance against the pervasive systemic patriarchy that has, for far too long, silenced and marginalized women’s voices within the realms of media, leadership, and policy-making in Sierra Leone.
Her nomination is not just a significant step forward; it symbolizes a radical reimagining of leadership in a society still entrenched in colonial remnants and rigid gender hierarchies. Lemuella’s aspirations are not limited to securing a position for herself; rather, she is determined to challenge the entrenched status quo and forge meaningful opportunities for others to rise and shine.
In a nation where gender laws may exist nominally but often falter in implementation, and where societal norms continue to impose limitations on women’s active participation in political and institutional decision-making, Lemuella’s candidacy emerges as a vital response to the pressing need for intersectional feminist leadership.
She advocates for tearing down the oppressive frameworks that have historically favoured a privileged elite while simultaneously silencing those most marginalized-especially women, queer individuals, and gender-diverse persons.
Lemuella’s unwavering commitment to gender equality is evident in her deep understanding of the structural barriers facing women across Sierra Leone.
From the pervasive scourge of gender-based violence and the insidious nature of media misogyny to the stark underrepresentation of women and the persistent lack of equal access to opportunities, her work is both informed and transformative.
She is passionately dedicated to reshaping the narrative surrounding women’s voices, ensuring they are not only heard but are actively amplified and placed at the centre of national discourse. Her vision reflects a broader feminist movement that demands not just the inclusion of women, but a complete transformation of our institutions, policies, and societal attitudes.
As a dedicated gender activist, “I am confident that Lemuella’s leadership will inspire an entire generation of women and girls to envision a future that transcends artificial limitations, to boldly articulate their truths, and to claim their space in every arena without apology.”
Her presence in this pivotal role will not only challenge outdated stereotypes but will serve as a compelling reminder that the future of leadership in Sierra Leone must be rooted in inclusivity, equity, and radical justice.
In light of these profound convictions, I wholeheartedly and unapologetically nominate Miss Lemuella Tarawallie as Deputy National Secretary General for SLAJ 2025. Let us embrace the opportunity for change. Let us stand firmly for justice. Let us champion feminist leadership for a brighter future.
