Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation (EPO) nicknamed as ‘the good brothers’ have donated food items worth in value millions of old leones to some blind people.
The donation ceremony was held on Sunday 3rd March 2024, at back of Adnan Supermarket on Wilkinson Road in the west of Freetown.
Presenting the items, the acting Chairman of EPO, Elder Sun Shine, said the donation was part of their organisation’s drive to help humanity especially the less privileged.
Mr Sun Shine said the organization had decided to donate 12 bags of rice, two rubber five gallon of palm oil, 4 bags of onions, biscuits, and some confectioneries (lollipops) to the blind.
He said they did the kind gesture because they had seen the need to saving lives of the vulnerable especially at a time of the country’s economic challenges.
He said that nobody will want to see hunger killing him but the situation in the country is making the less privileged to suffer a lot because they are physically challenged.
Mr Elder Sun Shine said the donation was also part of the organization’s move to minimize starvation and to help reduce hunger among the blind.
He therefore admonished the blind and other physically challenged persons to pray for the ones who have been helping them with donation.
He asked them to be regard, them the donor-givers as their brother’s keeper at all times.
“Disability is not inability, you can make it in life through prayers,” he encouraged the blind.
Elder Sun Shine revealed that their organization has used to assisting the disable and other vulnerable groups in society.
“It is our nature to give out; we have done a lot for other vulnerable people in the streets. We have also been helping business people, giving them monies and capacitate them to become meaningful citizens in the country,” he stated.
He assured that his organization will continue to assist the needy as always.
Elder Sun Shine pleaded with the blind to use the donation for its intended purposes.
He further admonished them to always stay calm, to be in peace and always be prayerful.
Receiving the donated items, the executive director of Tewor Agriculture Development Organisation for the Blind, Victor Josiah expressed thanks and appreciations to EPO for their humanitarian assistance.
Victor Josiah said as blind people they are facing several challenges, ranging from lack of accommodation, food and job opportunities.
He said the donation will go a long way in resuscitating their lives especially at a time like this when prices of food stuffs have gone up exponentially.
“Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation is full of people with Godly hearts, we are not surprised because God’s servants are always helping the needy,” Victor Josiah said.
He went on that his organization has a membership of over 150 less privileged comprising mainly the physically challenged and the blind.
He praised the Ezinwanne Progressive Organization that they equitably distributed the items to the right beneficiaries.
One of the beneficiaries, Sao Momoh, who gave the vote of thanked the EPO and also the acting chairman Elder Sun Shine for making their dreams come true and appealed for more help from EPO.
Prayers and joyful songs climaxed the ceremony.
