Thirty-two year old Mohamed Amara made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura on three count charges to wit wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the Offences against the Persons Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence, on Monday 3rd February, 2025 at Charlotte village in the western area of Freetown, wounded Sallia Kallon with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
In counts two and three further stated that on the same date and place the accused person maliciously wounded and assaulted Sallia Kallon in a manner thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken.
The Prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Florence M. Wilson closed her case and the file was withdrawn for ruling.
Magistrate Bangura in his ruling said he carefully examined the evidence so far adduced by the prosecution and he was satisfied that they raised a prema face case to be answered on trial. He therefore committed the matter to the High Court and granted bail to the accused person in the sum of thirty thousand leones with two sureties in like sum and sureties must be responsible citizens to produce valid identity cards depicting their addresses in Freetown and bail to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
