The Principal of Bombali District Council Junior and Secondary School at Rokonta Bombali Sharry Chiefdom, Bombal District in the Northern Province, Daniel Raymond Kamara Alias Opinto is presently in hidding after he allegedly squandered millions of Leones from students who wanted to write their WASSCE Examination.
According to cross section students, even though their school is a government assisted school, Principal Kamara went ahead in 2022/23 school year to extort huge sums of money from 800 students as WASCE fees, badges, nect-ties, and upgrading of results amounted to Le over Le300,000 new Leones.
According to the aggrieved school pupils, these fees were not paid to WAEC and they were not allowed to take the examinations. When the news broke out about the Principal alleged corrupt practices, the students mobilized to go on the rampage but were calmed down by members of District Security Commitee (DISEC), District Coordinator of Free and Quality Education (FQES) and elders from Sharry Chiefdom to wait until 2023/24 WASCE examinations.
They further that this year school entries for WASSCE are on the verge to close and none of them have gained entry and Principal Opinto is no where to be found.
Having officially requested from Inspector General of police (IGP) to protest with no avail, the school pupils said they are mobilizing resources together to take the matter to court.
Impecabbly sources further revealed to this press that, Opinto is using the poor students’ money to fund his campaign for the Bombali Sharry Paramount Chieftaincy elections due to take place soon.
When contacted on the phone Principal Daniel Raymond Kamara said he is sick and receiving traditional treatment in a village which he refused to name. The Principal who goes on the hidding declined to comment on the various allegations. “I will not say anything, all I will say is that, I am the leading candidate in the coming chieftaincy election” Opinto told this press.
