At the just concluded Bo School at 119 and OBBA at 96 celebrations, the dream of the president of the Republic of Sierra Leone and a product of the school 3919 His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, was lived and practicalised.
The pillars of the Big Five Agenda of President Julius Maada Bio were on display on Bo School campus and all efforts at making them sustainable were discussed. The Bo School boys breathed life into the aspirations of their proudest alumnus, by unveiling legacy projects.
Forget the fanfare and buzz of matching on the streets of Bo city on Easter Sunday, the day preceding that was a demonstration of the difference alumni associations should make in the annals of their schools. On Saturday April 19th, immediately after the first session of OBBA’s Annual General Meeting, His Excellency 3919 Julius Maada Bio cut the tapes to at least five projects undertaken by the very vibrant organisation.
President Julius Maada Bio officially opened a newly constructed dormitory laying adjacent to London and standing alone on the left side of the others. This was in fulfillment of the dream of President Bio to hone youthful talents and groom them. The new dormitory will decongest the campus and make room for space for the boys. Then 3919 cut the tape to the newly constructed staff quarters, built just opposite the Fish Pond and on the road leading to the deepest water well on campus. The project was undertaken exclusively by the Bo Branch of OBBA.
President Julius Maada Bio later went to the Fish Pond and officially launched it by symbolically stocking the ponds with fries. This is an exemplification of his Feed Salone program, the flagship of his second term. The president was then led to the Digital Hub program, and commissioned it; officially commencing work on the construction of the center which is intended to walk the school into the 21st century. Both Feed Salone and Digital Transformation of the Big 5 Agenda of President Bio were giving life by OBBA Western Area Branch.
On a final tour of the projects, President Julius Maada Bio cut the tape to the 1166 Joe Amara Bangalie Canteen, which is overlooked by the school’s pavilion. The canteen is another legacy program of OBBA that will serve not only the pupils but the Bo community.
In an other related donation to the school, Class of 86, marshalled by John Brewah, Albert Max Thornton, Bernard Jayah and others, donated kitchen utensils to the school’s Dining Hall, worth millions of leones.
These are donations and contributions generated by old boys who do not believe in only appearing smart on thanksgiving day and strutting the streets of the city, but giving back to the school. Funds generated by old boys including the president, were effectively utilized to actualize the dreams of the First Gentleman of the country.
