Information reaching Africa 24 Newspaper Sierra Leone has revealed that an innocent and nonviolent business woman by the name of Claris Moiwa who formally was residing at 55 Sinnah Town, Kono District and wife of Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), chairman in the district Safea Leslie Moiwa, is reportedly hiding for fear of her life. She narrowly escaped life-threatening death caused by an unknown individual.
According to our findings, the death threats on Claris is because of her critical voice and role of her daughter Kumba Moiwa.
Her daughter is into activism, advocating for the less privileged class in society.
She has been checkmating the government on working up to addressing accountability issues, ensuring good governance and providing quality service delivery for the needy. The daughter of the woman facing death threat in Kono has been very vocal in advancing women’s issues in Sierra Leone especially in Freetown and Kono District.
She touches on the painstaking political issues regarding the general welfare of Sierra Leonean women. Despite her father’s position in the SLPP as chairman in Kono District, she still speaks against the ills in society because she wants her advocacy goals to be achieved as she stands up to promoting good governance and service delivery in Sierra Leone.
She is keen on drawing government’s attention to get her recommendations she has been advocating for to be implemented by authorities concerned.
This has made the party, SLPP, a member of which her father belongs, for her entire family to be regarded as traitors and so they have been receiving several messages of death threats in Kono and elsewhere.
On the 25th November 2022, sources indicated that Claris Moiwa was almost run over by an uncontrolled black Tundra vehicle which was violently and intentionally driven towards her from behind with the intention of killing her, that is, according to an eye witness’s account. However, she never been hit as jumped off the road path when she heard the scary sound of the vehicle coming to her too close.
A man who witnessed the event brought her home. The man said he saw a mammoth of thugs inside the black Tundra and those guys had wanted to do something evil to her.
Currently, sources say the family is in still on a hideout for safety of their lives. They have constantly been receiving death threatening messages from community youth and stakeholders and so they have no option but to leave in an undisclosed location according to credible information gathered from locals.
An undercover report also has discovered that the search for Claris Moiwa and family is still ongoing by both men believing to party (SLPP/APC) supporters as they are desperately looking for the activist and her family and with mother missing a terrible death, according to reports.
Africa24 has decided to continue to update the public regarding the sad status surrounding Claris Moiwa and family.
