The All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament from Tonkolili District, Hon Jawah Sesay, has been a vocal advocate for the people of Kalanthuba, Dansogoia, and Sambaia Chiefdoms in Tonkolili District.
The MP was the first to challenge the Leone Rock and Metal Company over the misuse of over 4 billion Leones from the Community Development Agreement Funds (CDAF) meant for the Primary Host Communities.
Despite facing series of opposing voices in the well, he always stood firm in demanding accountability and for exposing some fraudulent activities by the company.
In another instance, on June 26, 2024, at the Energy Committee meeting in Freetown, Hon Jawah fearlessly engaged the leadership of EDSA, EGTC, and the Seli Energy Team.
Despite being marginalized by the Deputy Minister of Energy, he persistently showed courage in advocating for his district and the people he represents.
He boldly raised concerns on challenges faced by his people of Kalanthuba and Bumbuna. He was questioning the revenue collection practices of EDSA in Bumbuna and the relocation of EDSA staff in Magburaka.
He called for transparency in the handling of funds collected from the people and urged for accountability to ensure that his people are not exploited again.
Hon Jawah Sesay is now famous for his attributes of showing unwavering dedication to advocating for accountability and transparency in the energy sector for the benefit of his constituents in Kalanthuba and Dansogoia Chiefdoms.
He had urged EDSA and EGTC to adhere to their cooperate social responsibilities to the two chiefdoms, the communities that play host to the Bumbuna Hydro dam.
