For involving into gay activities, Police Declares Ibrahim Mansaray wanted
The name Sierra Leone Police (SLP) is to get a re-defined name soon.
At a press conference held on Monday August 19th 2024, Commissioner John Martin Senesie, spoke to journalists at police headquarters on George Street, Freetown.
He disclosed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu is leading a delegation to Ghana.
He is meeting Ghana Police Service (GPS) men with the thought the Sierra Leone Police Force should also be named Sierra Leone Police Service (SLPS).
On this he went on to say that, “it is a service that the police are doing to the people of Sierra Leone like those in Ghana.”
And so they are on the process to effect a change on the name of the force from being Sierra Leone Police Force (SPF) to Sierra Leone Police Service (SLPS).
He further said that the IG and the executive management board of the police force are working on this and the proposed name will be unveiled to the public soon.
Police Media Commissioner Brima Kamara added that they left for Ghana on the 11th August 2024, together with Alpha Sesay Esq., Internal Affairs Minister, the IG and other delegates to see how Ghana police force and the justice ministry in Sierra Leone will work for a mutual benefit.
The delegation engaged the Ghana Police Service’s IG who told them how they’d transformed from a police force to a police service.
Police commissioner Brima Kamara said after the engagement with the Ghana Police Service, the Sierra Leone Police Force will work hard to transform from a force to a service.
He concluded that they had a conducted tour within the Correctional Service, Ministry of Interior and other government institutions in Ghana.
