Over seven hundred BSC Nursing students of the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Makeni Campus have expressed serious concern at the delay by the Nursing Board to approve the BSC degree course in Nursing at the University.
The angry students claimed that they are yet to get approval from the Nursing Board even though the University administration has gone ahead to take students for that discipline. The students said several meetings have been held between the University administration and the Nursing Board but no progress has been made.
“You will be surprised to know that Year One students are yet to receive their uniforms even though they have completed the first and second semester,” the disgruntled students fumed, adding that, Year One SRN (State Registered Nurse) students have received their uniforms and conducted their practical exams at the same time.
They also claimed that the BSC Nursing Students are paying over five million leones as fees at EBK University Makeni Campus which they described as the highest. They alleged that even though they have already paid for Identity Cards, neckties, T-shirts among other facilities, they are yet to receive their uniforms.
The affected students are calling on the leadership of the Nursing Board to come to their aid to approve the course as time is not in their favour.
