Bai Bureh Warriors Football Club clashed with Lamboi football club last Saturday on the newly renovated Artifical turf in the township of Port Loko.
The highly anticipated fixture marked their first home match in the return leg of the Leone Rock Premier League.
The situation attracted many residents not only for the encounter but also to see their boys knocking on a new pitch.
The match was played and ended with a goalless draw until there was an interruption later in the second half of action due to controversies over a penalty decision by central referee Albert Brown.
Through the help of assistant referee, one was alleged in favour of the host warriors. Head of compitition North West Region Football Association, Alhaji Sankoh, shed light on the significance impact of the facilities achieved in the stadium.
This includes the artificial turf, flood light and perimeter fence that they have been helped with. He stated that the pitch is attracting scouts, new players, some national trainings thereby improving support for football and drive economic activities. Sankoh called on everyone to care for the development.
Osman Magic Kabba, chairman of Port Loko District Football Association, applauded football stakeholders for the developmental strides in the district and region at large.
The district derby with Lamboi football club coming from Lungi and Bai Bureh Warriors from the Port Loko City was well-attended.
But supporters of the host Warriors expressed differing views as some appreciated the performance of the footballers while others criticized them for a poor show.
