Information from the corridors of Sierra Leone’s chamber had informed this medium that, President Julius Maada Bio, had yesterday hosted the parliamentary leadership at State House.
Sources in the precinct of the law-making house had further said that a meeting was called to hang heads together on the recent ‘brouhaha’ in the well.
And the said fissure in the well has almost brought the the law-making body into disrepute.
This is especially seen in the recent high-profile corruption allegations frosting Sierra Leone’s unicameral legislature.
Sources say president Julius Maada Bio, has expressed his dissatisfaction over the leadership’s battle in the well.
The law house that makes laws, whose MPs represent their people and conduct oversight functions for the development of Sierra Leone.
Others said, recently, President Bio, had hosted a meeting with the opposition leadership at State House to strengthen ties and promote political tolerance for the development of Sierra Leone.
The latest move by president Bio was also, according to many people, was to promote his agenda to work toward a pathway for a peaceful coexistence and open up a democratic space for all and sundry irrespective of one’s political, regional and tribal affiliation.
Other school of thought, have said, the meeting with the leadership in parliament by the president was to foster a “mutual working” relationship.
And it was about promoting Bio’s Agenda on 5 Big Changers of his second term government.
Most recently, Paran Tarawally and wife, were invited by authorities of ACC where it is believed they had been told to pay a colossal amount of money to go into State’s coffer.
The payment came followed an unlawful recruitment by Paran of his wife to work in parliament.
The allegations in parliament against the leadership have also brought in the Speaker of parliament who was alleged to have involved in sexual harassment but many people described it as retaliation tactic toward the speaker.
Speaker Bundu challenged the issue stating that the move by the Justice TV Online commentary is a revenge for having exposed gross administrative malfeasances in the law house.
The Speaker went further that without explaining the meaning of its caption, “Sexual Gatuzo?”, referring to the media house, the narrator accused the Speaker of sexual exploitation and abuse without proof.
He said having listened to the commentary, one is left with no doubt that the content is meant to divert attention from the prevailing alleged employment scandal rocking parliament and he said the invisible hands behind this move are bent on subjecting Mr Speaker to public ridicule.
According to Speaker Bundu in as much as the main purpose of the post is to divert public attention from the grave allegations of corruption against the Clerk and his wife who seemed to believe quite wrongly that the Speaker had helped Anti-Corruption to unearth the financial scandals in Parliament even though the issues fully dominated the public domain for all to see.
“You cannot use the argument of morality to undercut the law when evidence abounds that legally, abuse of office, conflict of interest, embezzlement and corruption is rupturing the administration of Parliament.”
Upon such standoff, rumors say it has prompted the country’s leadership to host parliamentary leadership talk to discuss the way forward and end the fracas.
Notwithstanding, the outcome of the marathon meeting at State House with parliamentary leaders, it is still not known what was the conclusion on the corruption matter.
But speculations, have it that, from members of the public and some visitors in the House of Laws that the fate of the Clerk of Parliament is in blink state due to his heavy allegations against him and wife.
Meanwhile, the Public Account Committee (PAC) that supposed to have a meeting with Bank of Sierra Leone officials aborted it due to State House Parliamentary’s summon.
