The Wise Bird is very grateful to God-Almighty for making it possible for the bird to see the year 2025, after all the huddles, trials and tribulations in 2024.

The creature saw a lot of things, the good, the bad and the ugly in 2024 including the June 24, 2023 general elections, which most people up to date considered to be very controversial.

The bird also saw the arrest and detention of some Journalists, the killings of civilians, harassments and intimidation of opposition political party opponents, the arrest and detention of Civil Society members, the poor road construction at Fourah Bay Road approaching Eastern Police Station and Goderich Street, the erection of double guard railings at Sani Abacha Street and many more.

The Wise Bird is not an armchair citizen, he moves from place to place to get the facts about things to be able to tell the story correctly.

The only fortunate part of it all was the bird and his team were never arrested, beaten or molested by law enforcement officers, thanks to God for that.

But the unfortunate part was, many a time the bird was sidelined when it comes to important state functions, for reasons best known by the organizers of state programs.

After a week or two of rest, the bird is back with vigor and renewed energy to start work in earnest in the interest of the state and people.

It could be recalled that, almost two years ago, heavy storm swept away the historic famous Cotton Tree, the usual perching place of the great senior citizen.

Since then, the bird is finding it very difficult to get a comfortable sitting place to do his official work.

But this time around, in order to assist the President, the bird will be moving from ministry to ministry, office to office including the Almighty State House with the primary aim to unearth all odds the President does not know about.

By so doing, the President himself will appreciate and commend the bird for doing a good work for the state and not for the President as a person.

Say what you may, the President wants to succeed by way of improving the lives of the people before he leaves office in 2028.

With that in mind, the bird will not leave any stone unturned in his investigations to get the facts about negative things in government.

However, the bird wants to reassure the people that his volunteer-work is not a witch-hunt to target a group of people or individuals, but a mere sacrifice to deal with issues of national interest only.

Considering the fact that, the Wise Bird does not know everything, so as a matter of fact, he is open for corrections, criticisms and advices. He will also appreciate cogent information to help build a better Sierra Leone.

The Wise Bird wants to also assure that he will treat information he receives with professionalism (secret) according to the code and ethics of his profession.

Against this backdrop, the bird will not encourage blackmailing articles that will tarnish the good character of an individual or group of individuals, the respectable statesman will only deal with issues of great importance to maintain his undiluted reputation.

Even though the bird does not have rights to fully partake in any electioneering process in the country, but he wants to see development in every nook and cranny of the country.

 Once again, the bird wants to make it abundantly clear that, the views of the bird have no bearings with Africa24 Newspaper as an institution.
