The President of the Female Caucus in West Africa, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament from Moyamba District, Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay, says “President Julius Maada Bio has appointed those who’d suffered a lot behind the party, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) .
” We should make those sufferers happy.”
Hon. Sesay made the submissions on Thursday 8th August, 2024 while debating on the approval of the Presidential nominees in the Chambers of Parliament.
She said there is no gainsaying that Fatmata Sawanneh and other Presidential appointees have endured a lot for the party, adding that Fatmata Sawanneh had suffered behind the SLPP on seeing its growth or reclaiming power.
“She is a grassroots politician, “she praised the appointee.
She said when women are given the opportunity to serve, they always do their work diligently.
“We women are always devoted to development.” “We want those appointed in various responsibilities to do the needful and work along with their bosses for the good of President Julius Maada Bio and the nation,” she said.
She thanked HE Bio for the appointment of those who have suffered for the good of the nation and pleaded on the President to continue to be a listening President to bringing those competent citizens to serve.
Buttressing on the submissions of Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay, the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Hon. Matthew Sahr Nyuma, said the appointment of these set of Sierra Leoneans is timely, adding that Fatama Sawaneh and Asmaa James had worked for the good of the nation.
He said their appointment is not a mistake as they have contributed to democracy and for the growth of the country.
Hon. Nyuma cautioned that holding PHD does not qualify people on appointments.
He said that Fatmata Sawanneh and Asmaa James have suffered for the good of the nation and democracy in the country and their appointments as ambassadors is a step to further expand the big 5 game changer of the President.
“I have seen many Sierra Leoneans without PHDs delivered good service and the have served well, ” he said.
In his submissions, the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Sengepoh Solomon Thomas said he is moved by the Appointments of Asmaa James and Fatmata Sawanneh as Deputy Ambassadors, adding that this appointment is one of the best in the history.
He said he was a teacher and he is very much happy to see those he taught to excel in their various offices.
Speaker Thomas went further to caution those teachers to be resilient and continue to work as the blessings will always be with those teachers.
