The tension has been a bit reduced after the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio, spoke on the manner in which government appointees are focusing on their succession drive than working to achieve the 5 Game Big Changers of President Julius Maada Bio’s development agenda for the country.
The first lady has also expressed her dismay over the behaviour of most government appointees in conducting themselves as President.
She said the President is currently working towards meeting his deliverables or targets.
She also denied that his husband has no one at heart now to succeed him because he has an agenda to deliver to the people of Sierra Leone until 2028.
She said the game changers (government development plans) must be achieved and Mr Bio is on the move to ensuring more development for Sierra Leone.
In the last few months, the Chief Minister and many others had been parading across Sierra Leone “starting out” their succession plans.
The Chief Minister was in Kono District parading in some Ataya bases, market places and other areas to propagate his agenda, according to confirmed reports.
The “succession planners” have even gone as far as alerting their supporters on their moves. They are allegedly using government resources and vehicles to ensure that their succession plans are propagated, a critic says.
The succession tension is now tense to the point that many are now reneging on their responsibilities as they opt for their personal endeavours.
Many names have come up to succeed President Julius Maada Bio and those wanting to succeed President Julius Maada Bio have swelled up their number.
The ones who have been singled out to have interest in vying for the SLPP flagship are the former ECOWAS Speaker of Parliament, Hon Mohamed Sidi Tunis, Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, the Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Alie Kabba, Barnadette Lahai, John Oponjo Benjamin, Hon Robin Farley, Kadiru Kaikai, Musa Tarawally and among many others.
Others diasporas who are SLPP stakeholders are reported to have similar plan to contest for the flagship.
As it stands, some SLPP supporters have informed this medium that, the successful succession or the person to succeed Bio, is something that will determined by President Julius Maada Bio and his wife, First Lady of Sierra Leone.
Many supporters and other social media platform movers have also identified the very First Lady to be potential flag bearer of the SLPP due to her outstanding work towards service delivery for and to the people of Sierra Leone.
Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio has been recognized worldwide for her humility and her gender empowerment drive.
The first Lady, though, she has only chosen to speak on pushing her husband’s development agenda but there will be no surprise if Sierra Leoneans request from her to succeed his husband.
Many say, Sierra Leoneans now need a female President and Fatima Bio is one among the most fitted to take the Presidential mantle.
