Sometimes it really amazed Bra Parrot whether my beloved country Sierra Leone really have a sober opposition.

This situation has given the elderly citizen sleepless nights over the past few years since this current SLPP administration assumed power in 2018.

Even though Bra Parrot is known as one of the peaceful and patient citizens for which he has acclaimed many national awards but will this time around become little violent in anger if anybody will stand in the open to say that Sierra Leone presently has a sober opposition political party (ies) to put the government on its toes to do the needful. “Don’t advise me, I will use both feet to kick anybody in his face who will tell me we’ve serious opposition to agitate on our behalf.”

To say there is an opposition is not just a word of mouth, but by action to ensure that the suffering masses are provided with basic amenities and protection. Is that what we’re presently seeing our opposition doing? Of course NO!

The one million dollar question on the lips of people is whether the APC as the biggest challenger to the ruling SLPP is really a sober opposition to reckon with? Because from the look of things, it seems as if the entire APC structure is in complete disarray or being bought over by the government.

It’s clearly evident that a lot of things the opposition APC would have done have amazingly failed to do so. For instance, the opposition Members in Parliament who are expected to provide proper and perfect representation for their people have woefully failed them because of ‘COMMITTEE ALLOWANCES.’ Don’t tell Bra Parrot that you don’t know the APC have sold their party for ‘COCO YEBEH.’

Unlike others, the fearless bird always calls things by their proper and correct names, which is why he is held to high esteem.

It is no secret that, almost all senior members of the opposition are afraid to do the right thing, criticize the government of doing the wrong thing for fear of being intimidated, harassed, molested or arrested and taken to Pademba Road Prison. But the reality is, if you cannot stand the heat, then don’t enter the cooking room.

As for the Secretary General of the APC, he is out of the show, as he never picks up calls to comment on vital information pertaining to his party.

But what the APC big man has failed to understand is that, people are not calling to demand for money from him but necessarily to pass on vital information.

Many a time, the opposition has failed to act where the sitting government has failed to perform.

Take for instance, the WAKA FINE BUS project, all the processes from the very start to date were not followed correctly, but surprisingly, the opposition did not even say a word for the people to know that we have an opposition.

The arrangement for the prices was wrong and stopping other transport operators not to use certain streets in the city was also wrong given that we are not in a state of emergency. But just like I’ve said, the opposition kept sealed lips on the issue without saying a word.

 Some people may not like the First Lady for many other reasons, but many a time she says the truth. At one time, she said some members of the opposition visit the President at night to ‘COLLECT’. Don’t laugh! She was and still correct because the way the opposition is behaving proofs exactly that.

The wise bird will say without hesitation that, the last parliament was even thinking along a better line than today’s parliament.

As for the current Leader of the APC, whose tenure has been extended is just like a dumb (mumu). He does not talk so the sitting government is having a field day as they continue to do things they like without question.

The behavior of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the APC, by extension the executive are all one and the same as they always readily support whatever ugly thing the sitting government brings to them.

The opposition MUST be in the position to point out the odds of the government. But how can they when they are collecting at night from the President and some senior Ministers?

As usual, the brave bird went out to sound the views of people as how they see the attitude of the main opposition APC. The views were almost the same, insisting that the SLPP government is having a field day as they don’t have anyone to oppose them.

In fact, some of the people even say the APC is not ready to win the 2028 elections as the question of a re-run is no longer relevant or visible.

The people concluded by describing the current opposition as a toothless bull dog that barks but does not bite.
