The National Football team Leone Stars has dropped in the latest FIFA rankings.
They have gone down three steps.
Sierra Leone is now 125th in the world.
The recent rankings, was released by FIFA on September 19, 2024, and reflects a loss of 14.74 points for Sierra Leone from July to September this year.
This poor decline also sees the team fall from 34th to 35th place among 53 CAF nations.
The drop in ranking follows Leone Stars’ current struggle in CAF show in the ongoing CAF qualifiers, with a winless streak in their last three international matches.
Head coach Amidu Kamara has been under criticism by soccer fans at home and abroad who have called for his immediate resignation.
Coach has managed to secure only two wins out of eight games since his appointment by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
Despite the present setbacks faced by the backroom staff, Sierra Leone still holds a higher rank than countries like The Gambia, India, and Rwanda.
Nonetheless, Leone Stars squad is under serious pressure to converse their fortunes as they prepare for a critical double-header against Ivory Coast in October as part of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
About 95% of Football pundits are in doubt on the fate of Leone Stars’ qualification this time around due to their woeful performance.
