Mohamed Kallon, Sierra Leonean football legend, is on the edge of taking the reins as Head Coach of the national football team, Leone Stars.
Reliable sources say the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is finalizing the veteran player’s appointment to head the country’s team. An official announcement by Sports ministry is expected to be out in the coming weeks.
Kallon is a former international football star in Italy domestic league and is renowned for his illustrious playing career. He is widely regarded as one of Sierra Leone’s greatest football icons ever in history. With extensive experience both on and off the pitch, his potential appointment marks a significant step in the country’s football development.
The 43-year-old began his professional footballing career at an early age at the Old Edwardians FC in Freetown. He had played for major clubs across Europe including Inter Milan, AS Monaco, and in Asia at Al-Ittihad. Kallon has also captained Sierra Leone’s national team, the Leone Stars during his playing days, leaving an indelible mark in the country’s football industry.
Since retiring from football, Kallon has remained actively involved in the game as serves as a mentor for the young lads while running his own club, FC Kallon.
FC Kallon has been a key port of nurturing very young talents in Sierra Leone.
