Dear Editor,
Please allow me a space in your widely read newspaper called Africa24 to give out my views on the present situation in our beloved party, the SLPP.
I have noticed of late that, senior members of the party have embarked on serious campaigns for the position of flag-bearer as early as this time when other parties are busy putting ideas together.
As a very senior member of the SLPP, I feel very much unease when I see people who are supposed to be organizing the party but have embarked on serious campaigns in order to hold positions they are not sure they will get.
I want to say here in clear terms that, if our brothers continue to mess-up this way the fight in the SLPP will be bigger than that of the APC’s fight in 2018.
I want to have my views on record for expressing that our party is not as united as we think it is.
This is the time for the executive to join hands together to properly structure the party before the next coming election.
It should be noted that we in south-east should not be complacent come 2028 election; the Chairman and the Secretary General of the party have a very big task to do.
Today, we are in power, who knows about tomorrow, and so, due to this reality, we must stop the harassment and victimization of the opposition.
We might one day be in the opposition as the opposition are now.
Let us all forget about holding position in the party. What we need now to do is to try to further re-building our party as the party is not as united as we think it is.
Please, please Mr. Chairman, Mr. Secretary General and all the elders of the party come together to have a common song to sing come 2028.
Thank you Mr. editor.
Yours comrade, Asumana Tommy Koroma
