The Opposition female Member of Parliament from Western Rural District, born and hailed from Kenema District, has urged the Kenema district residents to pray and bless the former President Ernest Bia Koroma for his unwavering commitments to development shown during his tenure in connecting three major roads in Kenema District.
She made the submissions on Thursday 7th November 2024 during the debate on the Presidential speech debate in the Chamber of Parliament.
Highlighted the achievements of former President Koroma, the female MP Miata Amara said the former was very kind to people of Kenema citing the construction of the Bo-Kenema, Kailahun-Kenema and some major township roads.
According to the female MP, President Koroma had done so much for the people of Kenema and other prominent districts in the South East of Sierra Leone.
Hon Amara urged all Sierra Leoneans to be grateful to the former President Ernest Bia Koroma for the development projects he undertook during his ten years in office.
The female MP also informed that poverty has now become the order of the day in Kenema District.
“Mr Speaker, Hon Members if you see faces of the people in Kenema district, you can attest to it that there is serious hunger strike in Kenema District,” she said.
Hon Miatta Amara who is personate about the welfare of the less privileged people in Sierra Leone urged the Bio regime to provide bus service for the disable community especially those at the War Wounded at Grafton Community in Freetown.
According to the MP the people with disabilities are finding it difficult on getting means of transportation, adding that there should be a room for those category of people to facilitate their movements to and from schools and to the techvoc institutions.
“Let us don’t treat disable people with neglect. They are human and can contribute immensely to development if given the opportunity to do so,” she stated.
She has also called on President Bio to focus his much needed attention on empowering the disabled persons and save them from their current predicaments.
She also spoke on the deplorable accommodation faced by the disabled people and urged for urgent attention to salvage their situations.
Hon Amara has also called for unity in diversity and called on all stakeholders and political divides to come together and work for the poor Sierra Leoneans who can’t feed themselves a day .
