The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF), together with their president, Ali Hijazi, has called for a progress on the rehabilitation work at the basketball court at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.
The ongoing project is being implemented by Chinese Construction Company. And the Secretary General of SLBF Ishmail Bangura, Technical Director Jamal Hudruge, and a representative from the National Sports Authority (NSA), has conducted a site inspection tour to assess if the facility aligns with international standards.
They appreciated the quality of work, stressing on the accurate measurements of the court’s inner and outer lines and the rims’ height, all of which conditions meet FIBA standards.
“This is a critical step for the growth of basketball in Sierra Leone, and we are cheerful about the accomplishment on the timeline as outlined by the Ministry of Sports and NSA. With this court, we will have a much-needed boost in organizing our national basketball league and the sport community overall.”
The SLBF extended gratitude to the NSA for its continued support basketball development. As the work progresses, stakeholders remain hopeful that the upgraded facility will serve as a substance for the growth of basketball sport in the country.
