Leone Stars head coach Amidu Karim, the newly head coach of the Leone Stars, has an amazing football background . His career includes both playing and coaching, rendering him a valuable plus to the national team. Let’s explore his remarkable football voyage in complexity.
Amidu Karim represented Sierra Leone in the national U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams. He was then called up to the Sierra Leone Senior National team in 1989 and made his debut against Cameroon in 1990.
In 1994 he won the Zone 2 Championship. In 1994 to 1996 he joined the Sierra Leone squad for African Cup of Nations. Amidu Karim played for Suez FC, ENPPI FC and Shibin El Kom FC all in Egypt. He coached FC Kallon for 11 years.
He was the Assistant Coach of Sierra
Leone Senior team 2017-2023, and he became the Head Coach of Sierra Leone
U-23 team (2021-2022), he was the Deputy Coach 1 to John Keister for Sierra Leone National team during the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. Amidu Karim is a qualified coach with a CAF A license. Starting from 2015, Sierra Leone and Chad played 2 competitions among which there were 1 winning matches for Sierra Leone, with zero draws. The teams are ready to compete for World Cup Qualification, and CAF 2025 campaign. However, football pundits at home and aboard had in the past in doubt of his coaching experience at international level.
