The Federation of ECOWAS Licensed Customs Brokers Association (FELCBA) Congress, a major economic summit aimed at tackling trade bottlenecks across West Africa has commenced in Freetown.
The three-day event which is currently taking place at the Atlantic Hotel in Freetown will end on June 19, 2025. It brings together top government officials, logistics experts and customs brokers in a bid to unlock prosperity in the region.
Held under the theme: “Achieving Economic Growth and Prosperity by Overcoming the Challenges of Trade Facilitation across the ECOWAS Region, it will also be a gathering of key economic players in the region.
Organizers say it will offer “exceptional opportunities for networking, knowledge- sharing, business promotion, and industry collaboration—all within a family-friendly atmosphere over three enriching days.
The association has emphasized its commitment to boosting economic growth in West Africa through trade facilitation, revenue mobilization, and professional logistics services.
In a bold push for diversity, FELCBA is also calling for “greater participation from young professionals and women to explore the vast potential of the industry, making customs brokerage a career of choice and paving the way for a more professional and dynamic future.”
The congress will also tackle critical issues, including: the adoption of FELCBA’s guiding documents; the renewal of its executive mandate; discussions on the FELCBA Strategic Plan (2025-2030); and solutions to challenges hindering the free movement of goods across ECOWAS borders
With West Africa facing persistent trade barriers, this summit could be a turning point for smoother commerce, stronger economies, and job creation.
