Sierra Leonean international soccer player Kenechi –David Walker, who played for Truett-McConnell University football team in American, is doing very well to put the university on the map.
He is admired by colleague youth in Sierra Leone, and they wish him to join Salone football squad.
A local team manager said Walker is a right winger who has been doing so well for the university team.
And so he needs to be called up to join the youth category football team in the country.
His is father is a Sierra Leonean and his mother is a Nigerian.
He said as a whole, the college has a very good football team.
The player is famous at Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team, and at the athletic department.
For the first time since the school transitioned within four years period, one of its athletic teams was ranked in the NAIA national poll.
When the poll was released the Bears built an impressive resume, beating multiple ranked teams with a remarkable record.
This feat is due in large part to the coaching staff of the soccer program, headed up by Coach Rob Miller.
Miller expressed his excitement and pride in his team saying, “It’s a great achievement by this program! To make school history by being the first team to ever be nationally ranked as a 4 year institution, it is something we are proud about!”
This historic achievement has also given respect to the team.
“Congratulations Coach Miller, Coach Antoniewicz, Coach Hurst and our Men’s Soccer student athletes in making TMU Athletics history by becoming the first nationally ranked program since university became a four year institution,”said the team’s new director Garvilla. “The staff and our student athletes are an inspiration to all our programs as we strive to develop a nationally recognized Athletics Program.”
