Bra Parrot is still flying the length and breadth of the country to get the views of people as to how the June 24, 2023 election was conducted-whether the principles and code of ethics were fully followed or not.

To know more, the brave bird flew to most of the Provincial Headquarters of Makeni, Bo, Kenema, Portloko, Kambia,   Western Rural Area and Urban districts.

On its trip the brave bird noticed that the views of people interviewed were completely different from the situation on the ground. Some are in support of the results while others are against it.And which is always the case in every situation

The question people are asking was and still is that. Were the counted votes meet the satisfaction of everybody before the results were announced by the Chief Returning Officer, Mr. Mohamed K.Konneh (who also doubles as Electoral Commissioner)?

People in Makeni, Port Loko, Kambia and even in Kailahun are questioning the outcome of the results, saying that, ballot boxes were still in polling stations, while other boxes were on their way coming when the Presidential results were announced.

The people are still asking which method did the Chief Returning Officer Mr. Mohamed K.Konneh used to collate to announce early the presidential results.

To the surprise of many listeners, Konneh announced the presidential winner when election personnel were still bringing along most of the ballot boxes whose provisional results were still being communicated through an Independent Radio Network to the public.

A good number of the people interviewed were not and are still not pleased with the outcome of the results in totality. The results from polling stations by the Commission are completely questionable, according to many people.

Even the people the brave bird spoke to in Kailahun have questioned the outcome of the results. Not to talk of Local and International Observers.  They have a completely different story to tell in respect of the results.

After hearing the views of people from all walks of life in respect of the results, the brave bird came to the conclusion that, the June 24, 2023 results are nothing to write home about.

The people say the principles of transparency, credibility, free and fair elections are all lacking in the process of the just concluded elections. This is more the reason why the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has taken a position not to take part in all governance activities.
