In recent public notice issued by the Ministry of Works and Public Asset Commission (MWPAC), the statement disclosed that members of the Commission have resorted to verification exercise for all government quarters in the country.
The story states that the Ministry of Lands, Environment and Country Planning has taken similar venture to retrieve all government lands that have been grabbed by some unpatriotic citizens over the years.
In support of the latest moves, sources from these departments also maintained that this tripartite venture by these vital entities will yield positive dividends that would impact positive change to the country in diverse ways and would garner home development and sanity in these places and as well would be serving as a warning to other citizens to refrain from such unpatriotic behaviours.
Recently, the no-nonsense Minister of Lands, Dr. Turad Senesie, together with his robust team stormed the Government Wharf, Ferry Terminal and other key areas in the city where they discovered a huge number of illegal squatters and government land grabbers who have been constantly flouting section 3, Cap 117 of the Sierra Leone Lands Act.
The ministers and his men further moved to Kent village in the Peninsular Rural district where they also discovered another huge numbers of defaulters.
In a similar development, the Ministry of Works in collaboration with Government Public Asset Commission has set up a committee to probe most of these people including those with documents relating to these lands, promising that they would be also thoroughly vetted because they had alleged that some of them have over the years prepared documents in the bid to stealing government property.
