Twenty-four years old Ibrahim Mustapha Jabbie, a businessman and thirty-three years old Abdul Barrie, also a businessman made another appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No.4 in Freetown on five count charges to wit conspiracy to defraud contrary to law, knowingly possessing papers with intent to pass as banknotes, possessing implements of forgery and two counts ranging from obtaining money by false pretenses.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date unknown between 1st January and 28th February, 2025 in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together and with other persons unknown and defrauded Amidu Barrie the sum of one million two hundred and twenty six thousand leones (1,226,000.00) with the pretext of doubling same for him knowing same to be false.
Count two further stated that on the 2nd May, 2025 at Madina off Wilkinson Road in the western area of Freetown without lawful excuse or authority, knowingly possessed papers intended to resemble and pass as special papers such as are provided and used for making dollars notes.
Count three further stated that on the same date and place, knowingly possessed implements used in forgery known as white paper, black paper, one cup ABRO spray, one old kitchen knife, one and half sponge containing black liquid chemical, black liquid polish, four syringes, two injection needles and one bottle wrapped with silver plastic containing eight pieces of candles.
