June 19 2025 Today marks twenty years since the passing of Honourable Edward Kargbo, affectionately known as (“The Boss”), a statesman whose life and legacy continue to inspire Sierra Leone.
Hon. Kargbo was one of the country’s most respected and longest-serving politicians under the All People’s Congress (APC). He was a man of vision, compassion, and remarkable service deeply admired for his commitment to public duty, community development, and the empowerment of others.
Throughout his illustrious political career, Hon. Edward Kargbo served with unwavering integrity, humility, and purpose. As the longest-serving minister in APC history(1968 to 1985) he was more than just a political figure. He was a mentor to many, a voice for the voiceless, and a bridge between government and the people he served. His leadership reflected a deep understanding of the struggles and aspirations of ordinary Sierra Leoneans.
In his beloved hometown of Kamakwie and beyond, his name still evokes pride and gratitude. He gave his all to support the youth, uplift vulnerable families, and bring dignity to those who had little. Whether it was providing educational support to underprivileged children, helping widows and struggling households, or offering guidance to young leaders, his acts of kindness left lasting marks.
His vision for Sierra Leone shared and carried on today by his beloved brother, Frank Kargbo was of a united, just, and progressive nation built on compassion, opportunity, and peace. Friends, family, and political colleagues continue to hold on to the values he lived by service, truth, generosity, and love for country.
To those he mentored, empowered, or simply inspired, he was not only a leader but a light. His signature warmth, infectious laughter, and approachable spirit made him deeply loved by many. He was a rare example of a political leader whose legacy is defined not by power, but by people.
As we observe this 20th memorial anniversary, we are reminded of how much he is missed by his children (Mariama, Dankay and Ediatu), the Kargbo family, the APC party, and the countless lives he touched.
The people still remember him, and many continue to walk in the light of his vision.
To his dear family, relatives and friends who stood faithfully by his side this day is not only one of remembrance, but of celebration. His legacy does not rest in the past; it continues to shape the future.
Though two decades have passed, Hon. Edward Kargbo’s presence remains strong in the hearts of those he served, the dreams he nurtured, and the Sierra Leone he loved so dearly.
Rest in Perfect Peace, Or’Eddie 20 Years Gone Never Forgotten. Forever Honoured.
