For involving into gay activities, Police Declares Ibrahim Mansaray wanted
One fugitive of the November 26 prison break in2023, from the Port Loko Police Station, Saccoh Kamara, who was recaptured in October 2024, has been sent to 12 years in prison.
Kamara, 43 years-old, a gardener appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court on count of escaping from legal custody following a failed Coup attempt on November 26, 2023 in Freetown.
During that time three maximum prisons in the country including the Male Correctional Center at Pademba Road in Freetown were broken and most inmates escaped custody.
According to police prosecutor, Sergeant Momoh Lahai, the fugitive Kamara, being an inmate remanded in custody at the PortLoko Male Correctional Center, did escape custody together with other inmates on November 26, 2023.
He had been hiding until he was recaptured and charged to court on October 26, 2024.
Police report states that a joint team of regional and divisional police personnel led by the Operations Officer (OPs) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Augustine Kargbo in the North-West Region arrested Kamara on Saturday October 26, 2024 at Marinka Village in Kasseh Chiefdom in PortLoko District.
They were aided by a list of the wanted persons. The list was published and Kamara’s picture and name was printed.
When the file was read and explained to him, Kamara pleaded guilty and disclosed to the court that he escaped with others and was in PortLoko District until his arrest.
Magistrate Kekura sentenced Kamara to 12 months in prison at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
