A 29-year-old woman, Isatu Bend, has appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
She’s charged with one count of manslaughter.
The charge relates to the alleged unlawful killing of Mustapha Bangura on April 2nd 2025, at Kessie Williams Drive, Aberdeen Road, Freetown.
Led in evidence was done by Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai; the second witness Inspector Kallon P.B. (15179) attached to the Congo Cross Police Division, testified that at approximately 10:55 p.m. on April 2, Dr. Peter Sorie Kamara Cole of No. 6 Cockle Bay, Sir Samuel Lewis Road, arrested the accused and brought her to the station.
According to the witness, Dr. Cole reported that the deceased Mustapha Bangura had been stabbed in the left side of his chest, resulting in a serious injury that led to his death.
A team of police officers, including DPC James E. Soko (13974), visited the crime scene and conducted their investigation.
Statements from the complainant, witnesses, and the accused who still remains in police custody, were obtained and tendered in court as part of the evidence.
A death certificate issued by the Chief Examiner at Connaught Hospital was also presented.
Due to the gravity of the offense, Magistrate Jah denied bail to the accused.
The matter was adjourned to June 19th 2025, for further hearing.
